Visions of Worldbuilding

On View Nov. 5, 2026 – Jan. 9, 2027

Reception: Nov. 5, 2026, 5-8 PM

Who makes our worlds possible? At its heart, Visions of Worldbuilding centers the ways of knowing of Black and Brown women and femmes, exploring mothering as both a metaphor and a method—a liberatory practice of care, protection, resistance, remembrance, and imagining otherwise. It honors the mothers, aunties, elders, chosen family, teachers, healers, friends, ancestors, and communities whose care often goes unnamed, while asking what becomes possible when mothering is understood not simply as a role, but as a worldbuilding practice. Through multimedia art and participatory experiences, the exhibition invites us to sit, listen, and reflect on those who kept us, those we keep, the worlds we’ve inherited, and the worlds we’re building.

About the Curators

Kat Noel is a multidisciplinary storyteller whose practice spans across mediums and spaces. She has led content and narrative strategy initiatives at Forbes, TikTok, Spotify, Microsoft, and Expedia, and has also developed advocacy and public education work for mission-driven organizations. Her work is rooted in creating thoughtful, emotionally resonant experiences that center connection, possibility, and the lived realities of the people they are created for.

Janell Jordan is a creative project manager and facilitator whose work lives at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and community design. With over a decade of experience leading complex cross-sector initiatives, they design collaborative processes that guide projects from early vision through execution. Their work spans community-led research, youth development, public programming, and creative production, grounded in the belief that care is not separate from creation; it is part of the work itself.

Jenna Hanchard is an actor, poet, and experimental filmmaker based in Seattle. Her work moves across film, performance, and poetry to explore the embodied histories of Black women and the possibilities of collective healing. An award-winning broadcast journalist and audio storyteller, she has produced work for the Smithsonian, American Public Media, KUOW, and King 5.

Eula Scott Bynoe is a birth doula, childbirth and new parent educator, and equity consultant. She is the co-creator of Battle Tactics for Your Sexist Workplace, a podcast that offers practical strategies to confront gender inequity at work. As a former co-host of Hella Black, Hella Seattle, she brought cultural commentary and community storytelling to local airwaves. Eula’s work weaves together care, humor, and critical analysis to support movement building and collective healing.
